Speaking of how time flies, Stewart is 8 months old as of the 12th. I’ve come to realize that each stage of life changes how fast you perceive time. I liken it to the different stages of a rocket engine: stage 1 is the launch point, where it seems to take forever to get off the ground (childhood). Stage 2; after high school, it starts to move quite a bit quicker. Stage 3; marriage and your really starting to move now. Stage 4; parenthood, and you’re moving out of earth’s orbit.

I want to cherish every moment I can with my son, as he was a unbelievable gift, and is already gaining his own little personality.

This is my first full set with the D7000. This camera has the capability to capture some amazing images.

Wow, my blog has been pretty inactive over the last few months. Things change when a child is brought into the world; it’s been a wonderful experience, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Stewart has been the greatest Christmas present I could ever ask for.

I’ve really enjoyed learning about photography over the past year and a half. One thing that has bothered me has been the ability to record long clips of video on my D5000. This makes me carry a camcorder and my DSLR if I want to capture long video clips. I wanted to reduce the amount of gear I have to carry, this led me to buy the D7000. This camera is incredible. 20 minute HD video clips, awesome low-light performance (6400 ISO). I’m glad I’m a Nikon shooter, these cameras are just so comfortable to use.

Yep, another year has come and gone. Every year our church has it’s annual picnic. Every year our awesome musicians put on a good show. I get the best seat in the venue, behind the mixing desk.

I should probably answer my voice mails…

Found a cool little Chinese place where we were staying. These are always good photo opportunities.

Would you believe that I took this photo with a camera phone? Yes, the Google Nexus One. I don’t really even need to carry a point-and-shoot camera around anymore!

I capture this image while driving to work. I was just kind of awestruck by how there was such a distinct line in these clouds.

I have to give a ringing endorsement to my new smartphone, the Google Nexus One. This thing takes really good pictures for being a phone. This rivals the very first digital camera that I ever had 8 years ago.

Shooting this close probably defeats the purpose of having a high-res camera. Although it is a point-and-shoot I used for this…

I just though it was an interesting contrast to show Google and Microsoft right next to each other…oh, and my name and title in there somewhere.

In going to the auto show on Monday, I was jealous that a friend of mine had a macro feature on his point-and-shoot camera. One thing I’m currently lacking on my Nikon DSLR. However I still have a Canon point-and-shoot lying around. I really like the close-up shots to give you a different perspective on things that you use/see everyday.

On a side note, you’d never see a ‘Canon’ guy ever shoot with a Nikon.

I went to the auto show at the Minneapolis convention center on Monday. Got to see some very cool cars, and cool displays. Something just struck me about this gauge cluster on one of the Nissan vehicles. Very cool colors and contrasts. Nothing beats a free breakfast. The occasion: 2 year anniversary of River Valley Church being open in Faribault, MN. Can’t believe how fast time flies by as you get older.

You know me and computers. Just thought this pile of spare hard drives made an interesting photo (at least to me).

Some good friends of ours just had a child, and we went to visit them at the hospital. It’s incredible to see how small we all are to begin with. Also, it’s a great way to play with my 35mm fast lens and get that great ‘bokeh’ effect.

My brother-in-law was kind enough to take me to a gun range this last weekend. I’ve never shot a live firearm before. This guy knows what he’s doing. It was quite an experience, and I can’t wait to go back.

I know I live an exciting life it seems like, but I was sitting around waiting to get my tires rotated and was able to use a high-contrast filter on my camera phone to capture all the red color at the tire place.

When I was a kid, I loved to put together Lego sets. I really wish the Star Wars sets were available, I would’ve been all over that action.

This is the only thing I use to make grilled cheese. Cast iron skillet. Done.

I wasn’t paying attention when I took this picture, and this shows how I need to work on my focusing. Better luck next time.

We ate with some friends at Hogan Brothers Acoustic Cafe in Northfield. They make an excellent, tasty sandwich. The thing was huge. The chopped up banana peppers really added to the taste. This is probably my favorite hot sandwich shop right now.
